4/27/20 12pm – The Wait…

4/27/20 12pm:

Dropped Oakley off at PVSEC and spoke to Dr. Payne. Proceeding with amputation as planned this afternoon and then oncology for chemo within about 2-3wks.

Dr. Payne has some amazing knowledge of the breed and answered all of our questions and concerns. Oakley is one of two surgeries scheduled this afternoon and we will hear how it goes when finished.

If things go well he will spend the night and we will pick him up sometime tomorrow.

I’ll update further as we hear more this afternoon. 🐶❤️

4/26/20 – Night Before Surgery

4/26/20: “Night Before Surgery”
Thank you all for your love and support for our family and Oakley.
As we lay snuggled with our boy tonight we have an odd sense of peace about the surgery. We hope that we have been quick enough and that we are getting ahead of the curve.
While we know each recovery process is different we feel confident in the knowledge we have gathered and the amazing support that surrounds us.
Our drop-off and consult is scheduled for 10am and then the plan will be to pick him up on Tuesday once they feel he is ready to come home.
We spent the weekend enjoying the weather outside and spending as much time with Oakley as possible. 🐶
I will keep you all posted in the coming days. Thank you!❤️

4/20/20 – Getting ready for three legs…

4/20/20: Oakley is in his usual spirits today with no noticeable changes. He just reminded me it’s getting close to his dinner time…

We have arranged for his surgery/amputation to occur next Monday, April 27th at PVSEC South in Washington, PA. We should be able to bring him home the next day and then will return two weeks later to discuss chemotherapy and other treatment options with their oncology department.

For us, it is a sigh of relief knowing this is scheduled and the ball is rolling towards the next step in this process.

Thank you all for your love and support!❤️

4/19/20 – Turkey Tail Mushroom

4/19/20 – Started on turkey tail mushroom today. It is demonstrated that daily treatment with turkey tail mushroom extract significantly slowed the spread of cancer cells and improved survival times in dogs with cancer.

Oakley is still his usual goofball self and showing no outward signs of anything going on.

We are hoping to hear back from one of the many different entities we have reached out to about surgery tomorrow or early this week.
